How DELICIOUS does that cake look!? Bragging is allowed when it comes to cake! 🙂
This cake is so easy to make and is a real crowd pleaser. You can tell all my friends are cake and chocolate lovers too… this is ALL ABOUT THE CHOCOLATE. It’s one of those cakes that once you’ve made it one, it’ll be in your regular bakes list.
175g butter at room temp
175g caster sugar
135g self-raising flour
80g ground almonds
1 tsp baking powder
4 tbsp cocoa powder
50g plain chocolate chips
50g chocolate for decorating
1. Heat oven to 160C or about 140C for a fan oven. Grease and line a 2lb loaf tin with a long strip of baking parchment.
2. Beat the butter and sugar together well. Beat in the eggs one by one, then sieve in the flour and fold the mixture together. Add the almonds, baking powder, milk and sieve in the cocoa … mix until smooth.
3. Add in the chocolate chips and mix well then pour the dough into the tin.
Bake for about 50 mins until risen and a skewer poked in the centre comes out clean. You may need slightly longer than the 50 mins but just keep a close eye on it.
4. Cool in the tin, then lift out onto a wire rack over some kitchen paper. Melt the extra chocolate separately then use a spoon to drizzle over the cake. It should look something like this! Leave to set before slicing and enjoy! 🙂
