Let’s face in… Summer is O.V.E.R … sad face.
While I didn’t get out and about quite as much this year as last I did still fit in a few trips to Dun Laoighre, Greystones and Howth for a stroll by the sea. One thing we did last year and didn’t get round to this year was the trip with Dublin Bay Cruises from Dun Laoighre to Howth. Last year we got the Dart to Dun Laoighre then cruised out to Howth on a fab summer day then spent the afternoon and evening eating and sipping wine in Howth – fab! Here are some pics of that lovely summer day.
Having missed out on taking that trip again in the warm weather this year, I was delighted to be invited by the lovely Emily in Yelp Dublin, to attend their Sail Under The Stars event on one of the Dublin Bay Cruise boats, where we were to watch a performance of The Harp on the Samuel Beckett Bridge as part of the Fringe Festival. The event began with a great trip from the Grand Canal area to the Poolbeg towers and back through dusk. I love Dublin, particularly at this time of day, the views were fantastic.
No outing is complete without some wine so luckily they sell some snacks and drinks on board – very reasonably priced too. I highly recommend a trip with these guys, the boats are sturdy so no awful bouncing up and down and getting seasick and the staff are great.
While this was an organised event they do offer a few different trip options, including Dun Laoighre to the city, City Centre to Howth, Howth to Dun Laoighre & City to Dun Laoighre . Check out their website and try get a sailing in before the weather changes!
