Temple Bar isn’t my all time favourite part of town I will admit – but there are a couple of places there that make it worth the visit… a nice cocktail or glass of wine in Vintage Cocktail Club, some great Italian food in Il Vicoletto or some top Indonesian cuisine in Chameleon. I recently discovered another little gem to add to that list – Caffe Italiano.
Tucked away on Crow Street, it’s a blink and you’ll miss it spot. I visited early on a Saturday afternoon so it was pretty quiet. It’s a small and casual spot but very cosy and with extremely welcoming and friendly staff. The hour or so I was there had a constant stream of Italians dropping by for food or coffee which is always a good sign!
I started with a bruschetta with Prosciutto, mozzarella and sundried tomatoes. It was about €7.50 and a very substantial portion size. After a few nights out on the trot and a serious carb craving, it really hit the spot!
For mains we chose 2 pasta dishes, a homemade tagliatelle with Italian sausage and fresh tomatoes…
and a delicious Carbonara. The pasta was super fresh with just the right amount of bite. At just over €10 they were again a good portion and very reasonably priced.
To finish off, a lovely cappucino in a cute little blue cup and saucer.
I LOVED the food here, like a little taste of Italy in the middle of Temple Bar. If you are out and about finishing off your Christmas shopping this week keep in it mind for a really great lunch or dinner!
