Stanley’s, St. Andrew Street

It has taken me an absolute age to write this review – as you will see from the Christmas tree in the window of Stanley’s in the pic above πŸ™‚ I got caught up in the business of Christmas and let it go by the wayside but rest assured it’s no reflection on my experience in this newly opened wine bar and restaurant on St. Andrew’s Street.

I visited with a couple of my blogger friends in mid December when the doors had only recently opened. It’s the building that previously housed Dublin City Food… and then Saint, which I never got around to visiting.Β  They have done a fabulous job of reinventing the room. On the bottom floor is the wine bar area. A slick gold bar and modern furnishings bring it bang up to date. Second floor is the restaurant and the 3rd floor is almost finished and will be a private dining area.

We had a couple of glasses of wine downstairs before being seated upstairs in the restaurant area. This is where Stanley’s really shines. I adored this dining room, not least for the amazing candle-lit window that overlooks the street.

To start with, two of us went for the Mushrooms on Toast at €9. This picture doesn’t do the dish justice at all, I really enjoyed it.

The other choice was the Squash Soup at €8, which also got the thumbs up.

For mains we all went for the meat option! First up, the Rib eye steak (€27)

My choice was the Shin of Beef (€20) served with black truffle polenta and glazed carrot… the beef was amazingly soft and this was a real comfort dish. It was also pretty good value for money considering the quality and portion size.

And lastly, the lamb with confit turnip & parsnip (€23)…

We finished up with, what else – the cheese plate, which was divine.

Adding in a couple of bottles of wine we racked up quite a bill but they do also have lunchtime deals and a Brunch menu that I’d love to try out!
