Oh guys – please tell me our Summer hasn’t come and gone already. Looking out at that rain on Sunday I was dreaming of the few weeks of amazing weather we had at the end of May to start of June. Waking up with the sun shining every day was bliss! On days like that, there is nothing more I like to do than head out towards the sea for a stroll and some nice food.
One particular weekend I left the car at home, hopped on the DART and headed out to Howth with a friend. I tend to venture out there every couple of months, be it when I’m feeling energetic enough to take on Howth Head… or maybe just for a walk around the market sampling all the great food! Being the bank holiday it was bound to be busy, but it all added to the general buzz and feel good factor.
After a couple of proseccos in the sunshine – who doesn’t love some bubbles?! – we wandered back to Findlaters for some food. As part of the Wrights group, it’s quite well known and is a pretty popular spot for some lunch. While there’s bar food downstairs we went up to the Asgard restaurant and got ourselves a lovely seat by the window.
As expected, the dining are has a nautical theme running through…
We enjoyed a nice crisp New Zealand Sauvignon … purely to cool down from the hot day of course 😉
While the menu unsurprisingly has LOTS of seafood, there are plenty of other options too. What a sin to go here and with me being veggie and my friend not a fish fan we didn’t even try the menu choices that Wrights are best known for! We did however thoroughly enjoy our choices…
Goats Cheese salad
Tortellini with Spinach & Ricotta, Sundried Tomato, Basil Pesto, Parmesan
Rib-Eye Steak 10oz with Salad, Hand cut Fries & Pepper Sauce
Dessert lived up to it’s messy name but was honestly perfect!
After all that food it was time for a little walk along the pier and a glass of wine as the sun set… beautiful!
This meal was offered to me free of charge, compliments of Findlaters. As with any complimentary meals, I reserved the right to review it honestly.
