Wanderlust, Dalkey – NOW CLOSED

I love those few months March to June where the bank holidays just keep on coming, from St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, May bank holiday and the June bank holiday… we get a nice few days off without using up any of the annual leave, love it! Unfortunately now we’ve had our share until August but look, we won’t complain ๐Ÿ™‚

I didn’t do anything all that exciting over the June BH, a few nice walks and meals. On the Sunday I checked the forecast and headed out to Dun Laoghaire for a walk on the pier before the rain came in. I would often pop into the People’s Park afterwards for a bite to eat but we decided to go for Brunch in Dalkey instead. There are a few lovely dining options there but I’ve been meaning to visit Wanderlust for ages now so seeing that the queue wasn’t too bad yet as we were nice an early, we decided to drop in there for our feed.

Sister restaurant to MakD6 in Ranelagh .Wanderlust is on Coliemore Road. Dalkey is a popular spot for food on any given day, but even more so of a Sunday lunchtime. The interior is bright and attractive with exposed brickwork, modern lighting fixtures and a nice bar.

We started with a couple of cappuccinos and browsed the menu…

The menu can be found here and is pretty varied as Brunch offerings go. The usual suspects of porridge, avo toast, full Irish, French toast, pancakes & eggs with salmon or else more substantial “lunchey” options of halloumi tacos, chicken wings, burger, meatball sambo, ham and cheese toastie or a chicken and almond salad.

We went for the Avocado and poached eggs on toast & the Halloumi tacos. Both delicious and the avo toast in particular was pretty filling with a big door stop chunk of bread. I had a bit of food envy here although I thoroughly enjoyed my tacos, especially that zingy chipotle mayo.

Being the sugar fiend that I am we couldn’t leave without something sweet so shared the pancakes with berries and cream. Absolutely divine! I’m drooling just thinking about these right now….

I’m delighted I finally made it to Wanderlust, their Brunch was really enjoyable with a great choice and a couple of different options to the standard Brunch menu that you see around the city. I predict more of those pancakes in my future ๐Ÿ™‚
